Dear Parent/Guardian (s):
First, I would like to acknowledge how much this program has been through the last two years. Between the pandemic and 3 coaches in 2 years, I can only imagine the frustration and uncertainty you must be feeling. Please be assured, we are going to have a fantastic season and I promise to communicate effectively, bring nothing but positivity, and focus on fundamentals to help your daughters have more success on the court than they already have had.
My coaching philosophy begins with student athletes focusing on family, academics, and basketball. I am passionate about consistently developing the fundamental skills and strategies of the game. I will demand my players work hard every day, play aggressively, and most importantly, take risks. As your daughter’s coach you can expect me to give honest feedback, provide daily instruction to the best of my ability, communicate clearly with parents and players, and challenge every young woman who chooses to wear a Crusader’s uniform to be better both on and off the court.
The high expectations I will hold for this program include all athletes and parents having a positive/ kind attitude, a love for competing and winning, placing the team before yourself, and non-stop encouragement. I do not condone anyone criticizing players. Nobody deliberately misses a shot or turns the ball over and we can only strive to improve. Players need to have their shoes on and be ready to run and stretch at the start of practice; if your daughter shows up just on time, then she is late.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to get to know all the faces involved with crusader basketball. I would like to encourage you to become involved with the program. In fact, I believe, the more people involved, the better! I am looking for volunteers to take pictures, host team dinners, and film games to name a few! If you have any other ideas or suggestions that would improve this program, please do not hesitate to contact me!
I am thrilled to be joining this elite basketball program at L’Anse Creuse North. After looking over twitter and last season’s highlights and news articles, I am aware of the talent level I am fortunate to be walking into. Basketball has always been my number one passion and I am excited to assist these young women on this season’s journey.
Please feel free to email or call me at any time with questions or concerns.
Thank you for your help and support,
Claire Kapral
